Keep It Spinning
A downloadable game for Windows
Disclaimer
I'm aware the idle animation for the Beethoven boss fight is broken, with it just being him asserting his dominance T-posing. I genuinely have zero idea how I'm supposed to fix this. Every other time I try exporting an animation from Blender to Unreal it works fine, but this is the only time I've had this happen to me.
If you guys find any other bugs (or how to fix the problem mentioned above), please let me know :,)
Description
Great going, bro. Because of your recent hobby of vinyl as a medium of music, you just put a target on your back from both people who love vinyl as much as you do, and ones who are completely against it.
In this game, you have to fight against three bosses in order to protect you and your precious records (by chucking them like a frisbee at said boss), on top of preventing the one currently playing from breaking. Can you keep the beat going?
This game was made for the Boss Rush Jam 2025 with the theme being "Spin". I was planning on adding three bosses withing the one-month time period, but heavily overestimated how much I could get done. However, as of July of 2025 I finally finished up the three bosses, along with a tutorial and other stuff.
Tutorial
This is pretty much the text-version of the in-game tutorial. If you'd like, play through that instead!
Objective
Defeat the boss in front of you by chucking records like frisbees at them, depleting their health bar. However, you're stationary and trapped in one part of the room so you'll have to resort to other means of dodging their attacks.
Controls
Hold down Left Mouse to charge up a record to be thrown at the boss.
Use the Right Mouse to use an album cover as your shield to deflect attacks.
Hold down Ctrl to crouch, and release to get back up.
Health
You have two health bars: one for you (the player) and the other for your record player.
Normally, the player's health bar would be reduced when attacked.
However, while crouching, your record player is vulnerable and will be hit instead.
Attacks that force you to crouch to dodge it won't attack your record player.
Scoring
- Earn more points by hitting the boss with more powerful attacks.
- You can also earn some points by bouncing the record off of a wall and hitting the boss
- Throwing your record to the beat of the song playing will also earn you points (but isn't necessary)
- However, getting hit in any way will take away a few points.
